The souvenir, which will remain unnamed to protect the dignity of everyone involved, reportedly captured the child’s heart immediately after he was told he could pick “one reasonable thing.” After several minutes of browsing, touching everything, and briefly considering a slightly less devastating option, the child proudly returned holding the premium-price.
“At first I thought, okay, maybe this is a special version,” said the father, standing in the gift shop with the hollow expression of a man doing mental math in public. “Then I looked closer and realized the only meaningful difference is that this one says Disney on it.”
The father later confirmed that the Amazon version appeared to be “potentially higher quality,” came in a pack of three, and had free shipping. However, the online version lacked the crucial emotional surcharge of being discovered five minutes after exiting a ride, while everyone was hot, hungry, and vulnerable to poor financial decisions.
Family sources say the souvenir is expected to be cherished deeply for approximately 36 hours before being either lost under the couch, broken in a hotel room, or rediscovered at home weeks later with no memory of why it was important.
At press time, the child had already asked if he could also get “just one more thing.”
